He inspired uneasiness. That was it! Uneasiness. Not a definite mistrust — just uneasiness — nothing more. You have no idea how effective such a … a… . faculty can be
Heart of Darkness
Ugly. Yes, it was ugly enough; but if you were man enough you would admit to yourself that there was in you just the faintest trace of a response to the terrible frankness of that noise, a dim suspicion of there being a meaning in it which you — you so remote from the night of first ages — could comprehend.
Heart of Darkness
Just a reminder that our book for the month of August is Heart of Darkness
Heart of Darkness is an 1899 novella written by Joseph Conrad. According to Wikipedia: “The story tells of Charles Marlow, an Englishman who took a foreign assignment from a Belgian trading company as a ferry-boat captain in Africa… Marlow is employed to transport ivory downriver. However, his more pressing assignment is to return Kurtz, another ivory trader, to civilization, in a cover-up.”
We’ll be posting any and all things that connect Heart of Darkness to LOST for the rest of August. Also remember that submissions are always welcomed.
Welcome to The LOST Book Club!
Ever since LOST ended, most of us Losties have been feeling that withdrawal (cue jears).
So in an attempt to qualm this overwhelming desire to rewatch every single minute of LOST, we have decided to delve deeper into it’s mythology by exploring the books that shaped the show.
Once a month, we’ll read a book and then provide our views on it, as well as fun tidbits as to how it’s connected to LOST.
We urge everyone to participate as much as he/she may want. Submissions for the Book of the Month are always welcome. We encourage lively debate about the books as well!
You all have what it takes, so let’s deal with this withdrawal one book at a time.
